Aye, this was not a quiet brought by restful sleep, but the agonizing still caused by illness. The mother of the house lay abed, her breath shallow and hoarse. The others in the family crept about, their movements slow and steady, inflicting as little noise as possible on their beloved's sensitive ears.

It was only because of this that the slight rustle in the front room was heard. The oldest sister moved curiously forward to determine the source of the sound. She found a slip of paper peeking from under the door, marked with only these words:

Prayers are being lifted for the Madam. Check your front stoop for some tangible comfort.
--Mystery the Caring

The young lady flung open the door to find a basket overflowing with delicate foods, fresh-baked bread, ripe fruits, and even a hot thermos of soup.

*********************

As morning dawned, a house across town was anything but quiet. Indeed, tempers flared and voices raised in the din of banging breakfast dishes. One might wonder why they bothered with dishes, for there was scarcely a crumb to be found anywhere in the house.

As a disgruntled boy stomped out the front door to carry out the garbage (for oddly enough, though there be no food in a house, trash seems to multiply just as quickly as ever), he tripped over yet another basket. The note tucked into the cover read:

A job opportunity awaits the Master of the house. Apply at the post office. In the mean time, enjoy this gift.

--Mystery the Helpful

Under the note, hearty food was piled in such abundance that the boy cried out with delight.

Yes indeed my friends, as you have seen, the Kingdom of Mystery has risen from obscurity and is once more ready to bring joy and entertainment to the good people of FaithWriters.

Times have changed and "longer signatures" is no longer the rallying cry of the loyal scribes of Mysteria. For this, indeed, is a grand day, in which the fruits of our labors, most particularly Mystery the Great and mine, have resulted in victory.

For today our cries of “Long may our signatures be!” have reached the ears of the benevolent leader of the land of FaithWriters. This great man will henceforth be known as Sir SLindsay the Generous, Knight of Mysteria!

No longer will our signatures be restricted to a terse 250 characters, but now we are able to truly express ourselves with 500 characters.

The Kingdom of Mysteria is now free to enjoy a peaceful existence, with the sole purpose of providing entertainment for the good people of FaithWriters. But rest assured that we will not hesitate to take up another worthy cause if we see the need.

Now, my people of Mysteria, enjoy Day of Generosity!! In honor of Sir SLindsay's act, may we all strive to be generous.

Long live Mystery! Now, Mystery the Kind was not always dubbed that, Mystery the Kind had another name for herself before, but that name shall not be mentioned here as it is a name of great evil.

After much communication between Mystery the First and Mystery the Great came an agreement for peace to reign in all of Mysteria. An edict was given that all rulers of Mysteria must maintain that peace. And through it all came the name Mystery the Kind. Mystery the Kind was nothing more then a maiden-scribe before her reign and has settled back into that for the time being.

But be assured, Maiden Kind will step back into the castle for more than a dinner party someday soon. At this time, the kingdom is at peace and happy under their ruler, whoever they may be, Maiden Kind will remain in her lovely little cottage deep in the forest where creativity grows like the lush follage around her.

Humbly yours,
Maiden Kind

Hate to Burst Your Royal Bubble...

...Mystery the Best, but I have also been Mystery twice (Mystery the Great and Mystery the Pious).

Further, I was Mystery the Great generations before you gave yourself the unoriginal title Mystery the Best.

So, while I consider you an ally in the lineage of Mysteries, I find your attempt to upstage me a bit tasteless.

Before Great, There Came BEST!

Nothing like an added dose of redundancy to liven up a place. However, as Mystery the Best, I must destroy the self-esteem of Mystery the Great - given that before Great, Best was.

Mystery the Best holds two positions so far in the reign of Mystery. At V and XV, she automatically takes the cake, just by being BEST!

Prior to her reign in the kingdom of Mysteria, Mystery the Best was a lowly online shopkeeper, who fought through the queries of others to be placed Queen, not once, but twice! With her newfound title and rank in the caste of FaithWriters, she found that life as a shopkeeper was too monotonous for her.

Some previous attempts to regain the trone were thwarted by those who would have her confused, however, she has already been named Mystery the Best.

Long live Mystery, and long may our signatures be!

Mystery the Best, Mystery V & XV.

Mystery the Great XVI, Long May I Live

[okay...so this post is a bit redundant...but who dares argue with Mystery the Great?! (well, I do, but that's beside the point.)]

The Year of Our Lord 2006 gave rise to Mystery. A succession of Men and Women held the title, Mystery. However, Mystery XVI assumed the title and proved to be a visionary.

Realizing that the title, Mystery, had no more influence than mere novelty, Mystery XVI set out to bring legitimacy and honor to the title. Calling himself Mystery the Great (XVI), Long May I Live, Mystery XVI initiated the reign of Mysteria over all the boards of FaithWriters. And the peasants rejoiced.

Enacting rules designed to preserve the integrity of the title, Mystery, and to bring further joy to their people, Mystery the Great, Long May I Live, was a beloved ruler and friend to all the people.

Though his reign was short, the Chronicles of Mysteria will remember it as one of the most fruitful ages. He gave way to Mystery the Kind XVII, and after some intense negotiations and collaborations, solidified the unity of the title, Mystery, and secured it for all times. His armies have, since the height of his rule, been warring against the disinterested rulers of FaithWriters. Their battle cry: “Long live Mystery! Long May our Signatures Be!”

Truthfully,
A Loyal Scribe to Mystery the Great XVI, Long May I Live.

Of the Founding of Mysteria

Long ago in the land of FaithWriters, a maiden scribe grew weary of the empty time between writing challenges. A daring idea entered her head, and she slipped into the darkest of dress.

When the good people of FaithWriters woke the next morning, they found notes strewn here and there. They were notes of the most common kind, but contained cryptic hints here and there, and were signed by Mystery. As time went on, the hints grew less and less cryptic, and soon a friend had discovered the identity of Mystery. ‘Twas their own dear Sparrow.

Sparrow took her friend aside and swore her to secrecy. Temporary secrecy, that is. The friend became Mystery II and Mystery I faded into the past. For six generations the town was entertained by this game of Mystery.

But when the seventh Mystery took on his role, he deemed it time to make the game something more. Declaring himself Mystery the Great, he enhanced the game, forming the Kingdom of Mysteria. Furthermore, he issued edicts to make the kingdom a better place, as well as bringing honor to those who came before him.

Since that day, the Kingdom of Mysteria has grown in power and prestige. The royal leaders strive not only to entertain, but to keep peace and bring improvements to the world of FaithWriters. Most important of these changes--an edict Mystery the First has requested--that the signatures on the message board may be made to allow more characters so that the people of FaithWriters may make known their royal name, without loosing vital links.

Mystery the Kind holds record for being the longest reigning Mystery. Princess Mystery and Mystery the Great share the record for having reigned for the shortest amount of time.

Long live Mystery, and long may our signatures be!

Mystery the Scribe XXII
